ochō is a sculptural washi floor lamp inspired by the graceful form of a butterfly orchid, wrapped in soft white tonal gradients. When illuminated, each lattice cell glows like a delicate wing, creating a subtle expansion of light from within.
he shadow play never becomes overpowering; instead, it gently lifts the atmosphere with airy elegance, evoking the quiet moment when a butterfly settles into stillness. The linear LED source suppresses glare, allowing the light to seep through the fibers of the paper, revealing a tactile, sculptural presence. The lattice spacing is intentionally not perfectly uniform, creating handcrafted irregularity that shifts expression depending on viewpoint and distance—one of the joys unique to this piece.
